Prisoners go on hunger strike in Georgia

At the penitentiary institution No. 6, located in the city of Rustavi, several prisoners are trying - by means of a hunger - to receive the drugs, which have no contraindications, and put an end to physical pressure on them.

According to Nana Kakabadze, Chair of the NGO "Former Political Prisoners for Human Rights", the prisoners-TB patients Georgi Gudumidze and Ruben Gasparyan complain that the imprisoned TB and hepatitis C patients are given drugs, which have contraindications.

Besides, according to her story, the convict Vladimir Gobronidze asserts that he and the other inmates are physically pressed by the prison personnel.

All this has resulted in the hunger strike, the "Georgia Online" quotes Ms Kakabadze as saying.
