"Chernovik" nominates Khadjimurad Kamalov for Sakharov Prize
The editorial staff of the newspaper "Chernovik" (Draft) will nominate Khadjimurad Kamalov, the founder of the newspaper, for the Sakharov Prize "Journalism as Act".
Let us remind you that Khadjimurad Kamalov, the founder of newspaper "Chernovik", was killed on December 15, 2011, in Makhachkala, criminals shot to the journalist 14 times. Investigators associate the murder with Khadjimurad Kamalov's professional activities.
During the press conference, held on October 12 in the edition office of the newspaper, Biyakai Magomedov, Editor-in-Chief, emphasized that Khadjimurad Kamalov was one of those persons, who did much for the development of free media in Dagestan.
"Khadjimurad Kamalov influenced the development of the institution of freedom of speech in Dagestan and the regional journalism in general. Therefore, we have decided to nominate his articles to the contest, and we hope that he will be awarded posthumously," the Editor-in-Chief of the newspaper "Chernovik" has noted.
