Masked men kidnap two in Makhachkala, eyewitnesses assert

Yesterday, on October 10, in Makhachkala, two young men were kidnapped. According to eyewitnesses and human rights defenders, about ten men in masks forced young men into a car and drove them away to some unknown destination.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by a female resident of Makhachkala, who preferred to remain anonymous and who witnessed the kidnapping, it happened at about 9:00 p.m.

"It happened in Akusha Avenue in the vicinities of the banquet hall 'Arafat'. Two men, who were standing and talking to each other, were approached by a car. 10 persons in masks jumped out of it. The young men tried to escape; however, they were caught and forced into a Gazel van," the woman said.

This information was confirmed in the Dagestani organization "Pravozaschita" (Advocacy), which was also contacted by eyewitnesses of the incident. They stated that the kidnappers fled in the white car and that one of the kidnapped men wore beard.

At the unit on duty of the Kirov Police Division, which geographically supervises the northern part of Makhachkala, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told that on October 10, no field events in the vicinities of the banquet hall "Arafat" were conducted.
