KBR: two policemen arrested for beating driver and his son

The Lesken District Court of Kabardino-Balkaria has granted the motion to take into custody two staff members of the GIBDD (road police), suspected of beating a driver and his minor son. This was reported by the Prosecutor's Office of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR).

According to investigators, the staff members of the GIBDD of the Lesken ROVD (District Interior Division) stopped a car, in which a local resident was travelling with his son, born in 1999. When the driver made a remark about the unlawfulness of his stopping and asked to return his driving license, seized from him, the policemen beat him and the teenager.

Meanwhile, they wrote to the protocol false information that the driver did not obey to the request of a police officer and did not stop the car. This was reported today by the website of the Prosecutor's Office of the KBR.

The criminal case was instituted against the policemen under Article 286 "Abuse of power committed by use of violence" and Article 292 "Forgery committed by an official" of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation.

At the court hearing on the case, the victims filed the motion to choose pre-trial restriction measure against the defendants in the form of keeping in custody and motivated their motion by the fact that, being free, the defendants put pressure on victims and witnesses, forcing them to retract their testimonies.

The arguments, presented by a representative of the victims, were confirmed by evidence and testimonies of witnesses, and, therefore, on October 5, the Court granted the motion, and the defendants were taken into custody in the courtroom.
