In the evening of October 8, in the Krasnodar Territory, Lyudmila Barzdanes, the human rights defender and the candidate to the deputy of the Kropotkin City Council from the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party, was beaten. Law enforcement agencies consider a question of initiation of the criminal case under Article 116 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (beating).
"The complaint was received yesterday, and it was registered at the book of registered accidents in the unit on duty. It was decided to conduct pre-investigation, while the question on initiation of criminal proceedings under Article 116 (beating) is under consideration," stated Denis Shustikov, a staff member of the press service of the Regional Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA).
Colleagues of Lyudmila Barzdanes from the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" Party believe that she was attacked because of her political activities.
