In Volgograd, court resumes proceedings against "NTV" reporters
Today, the Central District Court of Volgograd cancelled the decision of the magistrate court in cases of administrative offence, instituted against "NTV" reporter Andrei Sukhanov and operator Daniel Korotun.
Let us remind you that on September 6, the "NTV" journalists with a piglet entered the building of the Department of the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance, and they were filming a report on the African swine fever (ASF). The reporters were detained by police; however, the magistrate court of the Central District of Volgograd closed administrative proceedings against them under Article "petty hooliganism".
According to a representative of the press service of the Regional Court, the decision was cancelled, since the magistrate judge failed to comply with the requirement of Article 24.1 of the Administrative Code of the Russian Federation, which provided for "full, complete, objective and timely clarification of the circumstances of the case."
Therefore, the judge of the Central District Court decided to cancel the decision pronounced and to send the cases for a new consideration to the magistrate judge of the judicial precinct No. 118 of the Volgograd Region.
"The judge of the Central District Court found that the magistrate judge considered the explanations of the persons, brought to administrative responsibility, as the basis for the decision on closure of the proceedings. However, the case materials confirms that there were other witnesses of the offence, who had not been questioned by the court," the "Caucasian Knot" was told by Vladimir Shevchenko, the head of the press service of the Regional Court.
