Volgograd holds picket to protect children's rights to pre-school education

Today, 20 persons gathered for a picket to protect children's rights for affordable and high-quality pre-school education in Volgograd. This was reported by the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent. The action was sanctioned by the authorities.

The event was attended by female activists of the Volgograd public organization "Parents' Committee" and the movement "Volgograd Parents for Children's Rights".

Parents and children were standing with posters reading: "I ate in kindergarten and I got stomach ache", "'Edinaya Rossiya' (United Russia) Party, excuse us that we gave birth to so many children", "Our children need food and not forage", "Line of 30,000 children is disgrace to city", "All officials should earn teacher's salary of 5300 roubles", and others.

Within the picket, the activists held an action "Bring toy", they piled toys in a row and took a picture of them. The activists intend to send a photo to the authorities to call on them not to forget about the problems of children.

In their resolution, sent to the authorities of Volgograd and the Volgograd Region, the picketers demanded to increase funding for the already existing network of kindergartens, to raise twice the standards for children in kindergartens, to make salaries of educators equal to average salary in the region, to organize high-quality nutrition, and to treat large number of children in kindergarten groups as temporary measure.
