Within the framework of an action "Help your brothers" Nagorno-Karabakh sent humanitarian supplies to the Armenians in Syria

An action of collecting supplies for the Syrian Armenians "Help your brothers" started in Nagorno-Karabakh. Humanitarian aid consisting of foodstuff produced in Karabakh was sent to Yerevan to be taken to Syria by air.

The Armenian diaspora in Syria found themselves in a grave situation because of armed confrontations. According to international organization "Human Rights Watch", civilian population of Aleppo and the neighbouring districts with enormous battles there is undergoing growing danger caused by air strikes, artillery bombardments and firing from small arms.

According to the official information, during the first seven months of this year three thousand ethnic Armenians citizens of Syria got entry visas to Armenia. Since the beginning of the year till August, 24, 90 members of 46 Syrian Armenian families got a refugee status in Armenia. A special committee for the affairs of Syrian Armenians was created in the Ministry of Diaspora.

Civil campaign "Help your brother" started in Armenia to render aid to the Armenians of Syria. The Government of Nagorno-Karabakh joined the initiative and the "Foundation of Aid to the village and agriculture of Nagorno-Karabakh" assumed responsibility for organizational work. The action started in Karabakh on September, 27, the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent reports.

"Humanitarian aid for Syrian Armenians from Nagorno-Karabakh consists of five thousand boxes of jars with jam, five thousand liters sunflower oil, five thousand kilogram millet and 1000 kilogram pasta", Director of "Foundation of Aid to the village and agriculture" Vagram Bagdasaryan reported.

Bagdasaryan also explained that sending the second parcel with five thousand kilogram buckwheat, five thousand kilogram cereals and pasta was in prospect.

According to Vice-premier of Nagorno-Karabakh Arthur Agabekyan, "the Government of Nagorno-Karabakh decided to render aid in form of foodstuff hoping that other entrepreneurs would join the action".

"All the foodstuff from Karabakh was made up in Yerevan and sent to Syria by air. We sent only production of good quality and only made in Karabakh", he explained.

Representatives of youth organizations and Syrian Armenian Akop Pogosyan who has been living in Kashatakh district of Nagorno-Karabakh with his family already two months took part in loading of the cargo into vans.
