In Krasnodar, former MIA agents accused of extortion and kidnapping

Criminal case against three former police officers, accused of extortion, kidnapping of a person and robbery, was brought to the court of the Prikubansky District of Krasnodar. This was reported by representative of the press service of the Investigatory Committee in the Krasnodar Territory.

According to investigators, in March, a 31-year old inspector of the division of the Transport Department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) in the Southern Federal District (SFD) together with two former police officials came to the house of a resident of the Kuban capital.

According to investigators, the defendants introduced themselves as staff members of the road-and-patrol service and presented IDs. Then, the criminals examined a car, belonging to the Krasnodar resident, and said that they were searching the similar car.

"Under the pretext to complete minutes of the inspection, the men invited the owner of the examined car to get into their car, and he agreed. Being in the car, the criminals demanded that the man should give them 50,000 roubles. They threatened that in case of his refusal they would throw him a drug and bring him to administrative responsibility. The man treated the threat as a real one and gave the criminals the required amount," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by Ivan Sengerov, the senior assistant of the head of the regional Investigatory Department.

According to him, then, the extortionists demanded that the man should find another rich man, whom they could accuse of drug dealing. The victim reported on the offer to the police.

An operative police officer played a role of prospective candidate and met the criminals. They handcuffed him and drove him away in a car to a deserted place, where they openly stole 50,000 roubles. After that, the former police officers arrived together with the victim to his apartment, where they had been detained by operative police officers.

After reviewing the case of three former MIA's staff members, the Prosecutor's Office approved the indictment. This was reported today by the official website of the Investigatory Committee in the Krasnodar Territory.
