Convicts in the prison of Rustavi went on a mass hunger strike

About 3000 convicts of prison No 17 of Rustavi, Georgia, went on a hunger strike. According to their relatives, the action was a sign of solidarity with the convicts who underwent torture.

It should be reminded that mass actions of protest started after video records of torturing the convicts in Gldan prison of Georgia became public.

Relatives of the convicts serving penalty in Rustavi prison No 17 informed that the hunger strike started two days before, September, 21, "InterpressNews" reports.

Convicts in other prisons of Georgia are also going on hunger strikes. According to the information from the Apparat of People's Defender, several convicts of a closed part of Ksan prison No 15 started a hunger strike as a sign of solidarity with the victims of torture", "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
