In Tbilisi, students go on hunger strike demanding freedom to detained protesters against torture

Today, six activists of student movements of Georgia went on hunger strike in front of the House of Justice. Their main demand is to release the four participants of protest actions, detained for trying to break through the cordon and disobeying the police.

The detainees are Lasha Meskhiya, David Patsatsiya, Shota Bazerashvili and Konstantin Labartkava. They were charged with disobeying the police. Today, David Patsatsiya and Lasha Meskhiya were sentenced to 40 days of imprisonment, the "InterpressNews" reports.

Today it became known about detention of two more activists of the protest movement – Dacha Tsaguriya and Bekar Aladashvili. According to the police, they drove a BMW car, violated traffic rules, did not obey to demands of MIA employees and refused to show their documents. "The court has appointed 10 days in custody to each of them," the "Georgia Online" quotes the message of the MIA of Georgia.

The hunger strike announced today is held by representatives of student associations – "Iverielebi", "Student's Voice" and "Kartveli", the "Echo of the Caucasus" reports.
