Tbilisi students stop their protest against torture in prisons

Today, the students of Tbilisi higher schools, who take part in the protest movement in connection with announced facts of prisoners' torture in Gldani Prison, have temporarily interrupted the action.

Today, the district police of Saburtalo have registered an application of the student movement "Iverieli", the "Georgia Online" reports.

As announced by representatives of the students at the information rally, held in the yard of the Tbilisi State University named after Ivane Javakhishvili, they interrupted the action because of the holiday of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin marked today by the Georgian Orthodox Church.

The students' action will resume on September 24. According to the speakers at the rally, until that day, they will express their solidarity with the prisoners subjected to torture in the prison only by prayers. The students noted that they are proud with the results achieved by actions of solidarity, the "News-Georgia News" reports.
