Several thousand students participate in march against violence in Georgian prisons
Today, Tbilisi students hold a march against violence in the prisons of Georgia. Several thousand persons are on the way - in an organized column - along Rustaveli Avenue to the President's residence.
Students assert that their action is free from any political burden and manifests public protest against violence in prisons. However, the procession attracted activists of various oppositional parties, who were instructed to put down their party flags. The action is also attended by young people, who represent the ruling party.
Upon reaching the President's residence, the protesters want to demand to punish all those responsible and their customers. After that, the action will move to the Ministry of Justice, the "Georgia Online" reports.
The traffic on the avenue has been stopped.
Let us remind you that today the Tbilisi City Court has ruled to use a two-month-long pre-trial detention of the 11 persons accused on the case.
