Azerbaijani MFA serves a note of protest to Russia's Ambassador in Baku on Zhirinovsky's statements

Today, Vladimir Dorokhin, the Russia's Ambassador in Baku, was served a note of protest on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan in connection with the statements of the leader of the Liberal-Democratic Party of Russia (LDPR) Vladimir Zhirinovsky.

Ambassador Dorokhin was summoned today to the MFA, where he had a meeting with Khalaf Khalafov, Deputy Foreign Minister, who expressed protest against Mr Zhirinovsky's statements made on September 14 at an action in Moscow.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on September 14 in Moscow, in Krasnopresnenskaya Zastava Square, a rally was held against extradition and liberation of Ramil Safarov. According to Levon Mukanyan, Vice-President of the Union of Armenians of Russia (UAR), the rally was addressed by Russian public and political figures, including the LDPR leader Vladimir Zhirinovsky, members of the Public Chamber and other public associations, who "expressed solidarity on inadmissibility of releasing and glorification of a criminal."

According to the MFA, in the course of the rally Zhirinovsky made a series of provocative statements, the "Interfax" reports with reference to the MFA of Azerbaijan.

The Azerbaijan's ruling party "Yeni Azerbaijan" has also treated Zhirinovsky as a provocateur. "By calling Armenians to terror acts against Azerbaijanis, Zhirinovsky has recognized and supported the Armenian terrorism," said Ali Akhmedov, the executive secretary of the party.

According to Akhmedov, Zhirinovsky earned "the anger and hatred of the whole nation," the "Trend" reports.
