In Ulyanovsk, investigators identify suspect of attack on leader of Azerbaijani Diaspora

In Ulyanovsk, investigators suspect 42-year-old Nakhid Zakhidov of the attack on Islam Guseinov, Chairman of the Ulyanovsk Regional Branch of the All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress.

According to the investigators' information, the victim was familiar with the attacker for a long time. Nakhid Zakhidov was put on the wanted list, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Islam Guseinov himself believes that the attack on him was organized by criminal groupings. According to him, yet in 2009, an attempt on him was organized.

"At that time, investigators managed to reveal that was a criminal grouping of five Chechens and Azerbaijanis, who received an order to kill me. The order came from the forces that destroy Azerbaijanis of the region and push them to enter a criminal path. They do not like that I make efforts to integrate 40,000 Azerbaijanis, who live in the region, into Russian society," the victim said. According to him, at that time, the suspect managed to escape responsibility because of corruption in law enforcement agencies.

He claims that the Azerbaijani criminal groupings combined with other criminal groupings and try to discredit him and All-Russian Azerbaijani Congress.

Islam Guseinov said that he had already sent an appeal to Russian President Vladimir Putin to send to Ulyanovsk Alexander Bastrykin, Chief of the Investigatory Committee of the Russian Federation (ICRF), to take the investigation into the attempt under his personal control, the "Vesti.Az" reports.
