The Russian national ream began at the Paralympic Games in London in a qualifying group, where they defeated Argentina and the Netherlands, by scoring a total of eight unanswered goals; and Lasha Murvanadze scored twice in each of the matches. After beating Iran 3:1, Russian players went to semi-final, where they defeated Brazil with the same score.

On September 9, the Russian men's team defeated their Ukrainian opponents 1:0 in the final (the team has 7 players - athletes with cerebral palsy, - note of the "Caucasian Knot"). Thus, the Russian players took revenge for the defeat from the Ukrainians in the final match of the 2008 Paralympics in Beijing.
