Opposition claims government pressure on civil society activists in Krasnodar Territory

On September 5, members of the project "Occupy Kuban" were detained by the police for several hours in the village of Dzhubga of the Tuapse District of the Krasnodar Territory. This was reported by the website of the "Yabloko" Party. Today, there was an attempt to detain eleven activists at the railway platform of the city of Khosta.

Opening of the project "Occupy Kuban" or "Kuban School" was dated to the beginning of the election campaign for the elections to the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnodar Territory. The project is aimed at setting up camps of civil activists and supporters of changes in the region. The activists intend to campaign for opposition candidates at the elections to the Legislative Assembly, and on the election day, October 14, to be observers at electoral precincts to prevent frauds.

Unidentified persons prevented setting up of camp of civil society activists

In accordance with the plans of the organizers, the first camp was supposed to appear in the city of Gelendzhik. However, on September 5, unidentified persons hindered the activists of the Moscow and Novosibirsk youth wing of the "Yabloko" Party to set up tents in public coastal territory. The unidentified persons motivated their prohibition by the fact that the activists were allegedly in private territory of the "Kempinski" Hotel.

"Then, the activist of the 'Yabloko' Party went to another city. Two out of the three cars, in which they travelled, were stopped by police officers," states the Party's report. To check their passports with a special device, the activists were brought to the police station of the village of Dzhubga, where they spent several hours.

"We with Sergey Sokolov, the municipal deputy from the 'Yabloko' Party from Konkovo, returned to the Dzhubga OVD (Interior Division), communicated personally with the Chief of the OVD and managed to persuade him to release all the detainees. At the second road-and-post checkpoint, we lost another hour due to the fact that all three our cars were carefully inspected and our documents were taken checking," wrote on his Facebook page Konstantin Yankauskas, the deputy of the municipal assembly of the Zyuzino District of Moscow.

In Khosta, Olga Noskovets was invited to OVD for preventive conversation

Today, on a railway platform in the city of Khosta, four men in civilian clothes also attempted to detain participants of the camp "Occupy Kuban". This was told to the "Novaya Gazeta" by Roman Bryzgalov, an activist of the "Yabloko" Party.

The number of activists included Konstantin Yankauskas and Sergey Sokolov, the Moscow municipal deputies, Olga Noskovets, the candidate for deputy at the Legislative Assembly of the Krasnodar Territory, and eight other persons. Straight in the place, Olga Noskovets was summoned for preventive conversation.
