Athlete from North Ossetia wins gold medal at Paralympics in London

Gocha Khugaev from North Ossetia is a gold medallist at London Paralympics in long jump among athletes of categories F37 and F38.

Khugaev set a world record already in his first attempt by jumping to 6.23 meters. In the fourth attempt he improved the result - up to 6.28, and in the fifth one he jumped still farther - his final result was 6.31, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Gocha Khugaev takes part in several disciplines at Paralympics in London. He has fought for the podium in the 200-meter race and even made it into the final, but was ranked only seventh there, the news agency "RSOnews" reports.

The Paralympics began in London on August 29 and will last till September 9.
