Oleg Shein's lawsuit against Andrei Vorobyov rejected by the court
Today, the Odintsovo Court of the Moscow Region has dismissed in full the lawsuit on protection of honour and dignity lodged by Oleg Shein, a former candidate for the Mayor of Astrakhan, against Andrei Vorobyov, the leader of the faction of the "Edinaya Rossiya" (United Russia).
The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that the reason for the lawsuit was Vorobyov's utterance that Shein was holding the "fourteenth or sixteenth hunger strike." He said this at a press conference on April 6, when Oleg Shein - a member of the "Spravedlivaya Rossiya" (Fair Russia) Party - was holding his protest against the unfair, in his opinion, election of the Mayor of Astrakhan. Oleg Shein explained that it was the second hunger strike in his life and went to court demanding refutation of the utterance and compensation of moral harm.
The court has refused to consider the Vorobyov's utterance about Shein's hunger strikes null and void and collect from him the compensation of moral harm in the amount of one rouble, the "Interfax" reports.
Prior to the court session, Oleg Shein said that the court had asked him to "draft a possible text of apology to be signed by Mr Vorobyov," the BBC reports.
