Prosecutor's Office checks hospital in Stavropol Territory, where pressure chamber with teenager ignited

Today, in the intensive care unit of the Stavropol Territorial Hospital a pressure chamber has set on fire; a teenager who was in the chamber suffered severe burns. He was brought to the intensive care unit in critical condition. Besides, the doctor who pulled the patient out received burns of his face and hands.

In the course of the check, carried out by the Prosecutor's Office of the Stavropol Territory in the hospital, prosecutors have moved a version of the negligence of the hospital staff.

"The materials of the inquiry into the negligence of the staff of the Territorial Children's Clinical Hospital have been directed to the head of the investigatory body to decide on the start of criminal prosecution," said a source from the press service of the Prosecutor's Office of the Stavropol Territory, the "Interfax" reports.

The injured boy remains in critical condition. "As a result of the accident the child received a thermal injury – the flame had burned 100 percent of the body surface; he has respiratory burns also," said a source from the local Ministry of Public Health.

Igor Anisimov, Chief Physician of the above Clinical Hospital said that the affected teenager could not be transported; therefore, all the necessary measures would be taken on the spot. To help the patient, the Russian Ministry of Public Health has sent the leading experts to treat burns.

According to doctors, the pressure chamber was OK and duly certified, the RIA "Novosti" reports.

Meanwhile, according to the territorial law enforcers, a lighter was found on the victim.
