Court dismisses Shein's appeal complaint on cancellation of Astrakhan Mayor election

Today, the Astrakhan Regional Court has held a hearing on the appeal complaint lodged by the former candidate for the Mayor of Astrakhan Oleg Shein against the decision of the Lenin District Court to reject his claim on cancellation of the election of the Mayor held on March 4. The appellate instance has upheld the decision of the first instance court.

On August 9, Oleg Shein lodged his appeal complaints against the decisions of the Kirov, Lenin, Soviet and Trusov District Courts of Astrakhan to dismiss his claims demanding to cancel the March 4 election.

According to Mr Shein, "the dismissal was quite expected." "Now, we have to wait for three more dismissals – from the Soviet, Kirov and Trusov District Courts and continue our struggle for justice," he told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

According to Ms Lityagina, a representative of the City Election Commission, "the will of the voters was revealed and recorded in protocols; and no violations hampering people to express their will had been recorded."
