The first family-type rehabilitation center started work in Grozny
A republican family-type rehabilitation center for disabled children opened in Grozny. It is the first medical institution of this kind in Russia, officials of the Ministry of Public Health of Chechnya emphasize.
“On August, 23, the first family-type republican rehabilitation center for disabled children in our country started functioning in Grozny. The major feature of the new center is that the sick children will not only get efficient aid but will also be able to stay there together with their parents. The Center is designed for 220 persons. Children from our republic as well as patients from the neighbouring regions will undergo treatment there”, a representative of the Ministry of Public Health of Chechnya said.
“Today there are 41 489 disabled children in the republic. Most of them became disabled during the period of the two military campaigns in our territory. Many of them need recurrent courses of treatment and rehabilitation. Earlier, the parents had to take their children outside the republic for we had no special medical institution. Now the problem is solved”, our interlocutor said.
The residents of the republic highly appreciate opening of the Republican rehabilitation center for disabled children. “We are not only glad about opening of the center but also about the possibility to stay there together with the children during the course of treatment. That will be fine for the children. It is also nice that now one will not have to leave the republic for treatment which will save one’s money, too”, resident of the republic Zarema I. said.
“My son has cerebral spastic infantile paralysis and we have already undergone a course of rehabilitation with Chinese specialists. There is a progress but a rehabilitation course is necessary from time to time in order to secure the results we achieved. Therefore, opening of the center is of great help not only to disabled children but to their parents as well”, local resident Khava B. emphasized.
