In Dagestan, investigators prepare indictment in case on murder of pregnant woman

The Investigatory Committee of Dagestan has prepared an indictment against five police officers within the criminal investigation of the shelling in 2006 of Sapiyat Magomedova and Gasan Baisultanov. This was reported by a source from the Republic's Investigatory Committee.

On November 3, 2006, in the course of the special operation in Khasavyurt, police officers surrounded the house of Gasan Baisultanov and opened fire on him and Sapiyat Magomedova, his pregnant wife. According to relatives of Gasan Baisultanov, he was wounded, and his wife died. At the meeting with the Dagestani leader Magomedsalam Magomedov, Mamatkhan Baisultanov, the complainant about violations, committed by law enforcement officers, asked for assistance in the investigation into the criminal case on the shelling of his pregnant daughter-in-law and his son.

Starting from the beginning of the consideration of the case, the investigation into it was postponed 16 times, and ten investigators replaced each other. This was emphasized by Mamatkhan Baisultanov in his interview to the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.

"At present, the case is being conducted by the 10th investigator, and the case was reopened for the 17th time. Two months ago, when I was at the meeting with the Dagestani leader, he promised me that the case would be undoubtedly brought to court and that he would closely supervise the process. I have the facts, which prove the guilt of the defendants," Mamatkhan Baisultanov stated.

According to him, investigator Djambulat Beletov has prepared the indictment and sent it to his bosses for approval. According to the source, the case will be formally brought to the court next week.

Spokesperson of the Investigatory Committee of Dagestan has reported that the case is still in consideration.
