Ivanishvili calls President of Georgia to TV debates
Bidzina Ivanishvili, the leader of the oppositional coalition "Georgian Dream", has invited the Georgian President Mikhail Saakashvili to televised debates and expressed his readiness to hold debates with members of the ruling party, should the President be unable to appear. Also, according to Ivanishvili, he is ready to hold debates with other parties, if they recognize their links with the "United National Movement".
The Bidzina Ivanishvili's block "Georgian Dream" unites six parties: the "Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia", Conservative Party of Georgia, "Industry Will Save Georgia", Republican Party, "Our Georgia – Free Democrats" and the "National Forum".
"Now, Georgia has two large powers – our coalition and the ruling party "United National Movement" led by the President. I invite President Mikhail Saakashvili to televised debate at any time, in any situation and in any form; and if he can't, then, I invite members of the ruling party," Bidzina Ivanishvili said at a briefing.
He has added that he is ready to take part in televised debates with representatives of other political parties – the "Christian-Democratic Movement", the" New Right-Wingers" Party and the Labour Party – if they admit that they are pseudo-opposition and serve the interests of the authorities.
