KBR hols republic's stage of "Caucasian Games"

Today, Nalchik has hosted the stage of the "Caucasian Games" for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic (KBR). The competitions were attended by 13 teams from each of the municipal districts of the republic and the city of Nalchik.

Each team consisted of 41 athletes, all are winners of the regional stage of the games; they competed in 18 sports, from traditional (volleyball, chess, running) to original (moving on stilts, weightlifting, tug of war, wrestling on belts, etc.).

In belt wrestling, the winners were Azamat Getigezhev from the Terek District (weight category of up to 65 kg), Rustam Ivanov from the Cherek District (up to 85 kg) and Rustam Begidov from the Chegem District (over 85 kg). The winner in weight carrying was Oleg Shamurzaev from the Terek District; and in arm wrestling the winners were Anzor Kodzokov from the Baksan District (up to 65 kg), Tembulat Nakov from Nalchik (up to 85 kg) and Said Gendugov from the city of Prokhladny (over 80 kg).

In weightlifting, the winner was Aslanbek Oshroev, a villager of Deiskoe, Terek District, who managed to lift a 50-kilo bag of sand for 70 times in 6 minutes. None of other competitors could do it more than 50 times.

Aslanbek Oshroev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that he was satisfied with the result and hoped to win the "Caucasian Games", where he was the winner last year in Cherkessk with the result of 60 lifts of the bag.

The winner in belt wrestling Rustam Begidov noted that this sport combines elements of freestyle and Greco-Roman wrestling but is "more sensitive."
