Convicts in case on blowing up "Neva-Express" Train transferred to Moscow
Kartoev brothers and Zelimkhan Aushev, residents of Ingushetia, convicted in case on blowing up the "Neva-Express" Train in November 2009, were transferred from the SIZO (pre-trial prison) of the city of Tver to Moscow. This was stated by Musa Pliev, the lawyer of the defendant Timur Kartoev.
On March 31, 2010, the Investigatory Committee of the Prosecutor's Office of the Russian Federation filed charges of terrorism against the Kartoev brothers, residents of the Ingush village of Ekazhevo, and their countryman Zelimkhan Aushev in the case of blowing up the "Neva-Express" Train in autumn 2009. Later, 10 natives of Ingushetia were arrested; however, they did not admit their guilt.
In accordance with the verdict of the Tver Regional Court of May 22, 2012, four defendants were sentenced to life imprisonment. The other six defendants were sentenced to 7-8 years of imprisonment.
"The convicts will be held in the SIZO No. 1, which people call the 'Matrosskaya Tishina' (Sailor's Silence), and in the SIZO No. 2, also known as the Butyrskaya Prison (the 'Butyrka'). They will be kept in the 'Sailor's Silence' and the 'Butyrka' till September 24. On that day, the Russian Supreme Court is to consider the appeals, filed by the convicts in the case of blowing up the 'Neva-Express' Train," Musa Pliev told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
