Nagorno-Karabakh residents feel earthquake tremors from Iran

Today, at about 6:00 p.m., residents of Stepanakert felt 3-4 magnitude underground tremors; no people suffered and no destructions occurred.

A 5 magnitude earthquake occurred at 5:32 p.m. Iranian time in 64 kilometres north-east of the Iranian city of Tabriz and in 21 kilometres west of the town of Ahar. The hypocenter of the earthquake was at a depth of 15 kilometres. At the epicentre, force of tremors was 6-7 magnitude. In Armenia, tremors were felt in cities of Agarak, Megri, Kadjaran, Kapan and Goris.

The residents of Stepanakert reacted to today's earthquake more relaxed than to the underground tremors, which occurred on August 11. At that time, the residents of Stepanakert went outside and waited there for an hour.

A saleswoman of a trade stall in Stepanakert named Karina admitted that last week, the earthquake was stronger than the today's one. "The last time, a couple of bottles fell from my counter, and I was very frightened. Besides, the last time, several earthquakes occurred during several minutes, and this time, only one underground tremor occurred, and I reacted somehow calmly to that," the woman said.

Dinara Grigoryan, another resident of Stepanakert, has also confirmed that time people were not afraid and did not leave their houses for the yard. At the same time, she has noted that "people should not be so careless."
