The third International mime festival named after Leonid Engibarov is going on in Armenia
Since August, 10, the third International mime festival named after Leonid Engibarov has been going on in the Armenian health resort of Tsakhkadzor. The festival will last till August, 15. Theatre companies are playing right in the streets of the town and gathering crowds of spectators.
Besides Armenian actors, mimes and mime theatres from such countries as Italy, Japan, Turkey, Denmark and Poland are taking part in the festival.
Performances in the open air, joint programs of theatre companies, exchange of experience, master-classes of street and choreographic mime are held within the framework of the festival, the “Caucasian Knot” correspondent reports.
“I got to know about the festival from the Internet, registered and came. Everything turned out very simple. But I have never expected such a range, so many people coming here. I did not know that the Armenians liked mime so much”, Makoto Inoue, famous actor from Japan, prize-winner of international festivals, said.
“I came from Stepanavan. Mime is my favourite theatrical genre. I myself play it a little. It is just remarkable that the festivals started in the regions, either”, ITRC “Mir” quotes spectator Repsime Shaginyan.
