Azerbaijan natives lead among Caucasian athletes by number of medals won at London Olympics

According to the information of the "Caucasian Knot", based on the own materials of the edition and information from other open sources, natives of Azerbaijan, who won ten medals of various denominations, became the most successful athletes at the London Olympic Games among athletes from the Caucasus. The second place went to natives of Georgia, who won seven medals. North Ossetia with five medals became the next region in the all-medal table of the Olympic Games.

During the London Olympic Games, the natives of Azerbaijan won two gold, two silver and six bronze medals. The natives of Georgia won one gold, three silver and three bronze medals. One gold, three silver and one bronze medals went to the natives of North Ossetia.

The "Caucasian Knot" counted medals, won by athletes, natives of the North-Caucasian and Southern Federal Districts of Russia and the states of the Caucasus.

According to the information, athletes from the Rostov Region and athletes from the Stavropol Territory of the Russian Federation won four medals for each region, athletes from Armenia and athletes from the Krasnodar Territory three medals for each region, athletes from the Volgograd Region, Dagestan, Chechnya and Kabardino-Balkaria won two medals for each region, and athletes from Adygea and Kalmykia won one medal for each region. Besides, one medal at the London Olympic Games went to a native of Abkhazia.
