Heavy rain floods several streets in Kutaisi

At night on August 10, as a result of a heavy rain that struck the city of Kutaisi (Imereti Region, Western Georgia) several streets were flooded. There is no data about any casualties and victims.

The heavy rain continued for about an hour; the traffic was interrupted; and basements and ground floors of houses were flooded.

The local Rioni River overflowed its banks and flooded the city. Some streets have disappeared under the water almost completely. According to the latest information, there are no victims and major destructions, the Interstate TV and Radio Company (MGTRK) "Mir" reports.

The local emergency and rescue services of Kutaisi were mobilized; for the whole night they kept pumping water out of basements and cleaning the territory, the portal "News-Georgia" reports.
