"Left-Wing Front" notifies Rostov-on-Don Mayoralty about action in support of "Pussy Riot"

A solidarity action with the members of the punk group "Pussy Riot" is planned by residents of Rostov-on-Don for August 17, the day when the verdict is expected in the case of the three group members who organized a "punk prayer" at the Christ the Saviour Cathedral. The Rostov Mayoralty has been notified about this intention.

The notification asks to approve two places for the action – the Soviets Square in front of the regional government and the central entrance to the Gorky Park. According to the applicants, should the action be not allowed, the opposition will held solo pickets on that day in different parts of the city.

"Traditionally, we are not allowed to hold protests in these places; they offer other ones to us. We agree to consider all the options," the "Rostov News Agency" quotes Vladislav Ryazantsev, one of the organizers of the action and coordinator of the "Left-Wing Front".

The applicants ask one hour for the action in support of the "Pussy Riot" – from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. On August 10, a notification with a total number of picketers of 40 persons was handed over to the administration of Rostov-on-Don, one of the Rostov-on-Don websites writes.
