Agranovskiy: ECtHR accepts appeal against sentence on riots in Manege Square

The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) has accepted a complaint lodged by the defence of Igor Bereziuk, a convict for the unrests in Manege Square, said his lawyer Dmitry Agranovskiy.

On October 28, 2011 the court sentenced the figurants in the case on riots in Manege Square – activists of "The Other Russia" Igor Bereziuk, Kirill Unchuk, Ruslan Khubaev, Leonid Panin and Alexander Kozevin to imprisonment for the terms from 2 to 5.5 years.

On March 29, the Judicial Collegium of the Moscow City Court mitigated the punishment for some of the defendants. Their advocates said that they would seek to liberate them.

"A complaint to the ECtHR was aimed at nullifying the verdict passed in Russia," the lawyer told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
