Motor rally "White Stream" leaves Moscow for Astrakhan today
The "White Stream" is a motor rally, whose participants plan to visit fifteen Russian cities. Today, they arrived in Yaroslavl and held an information picket there. The "White Stream" will have its finish on August 19 in Astrakhan and run via Kostroma, Nizhny Novgorod, Cheboksary, Kazan, Togliatti, Samara, Saratov, Volgograd, Kamyshin and Akhtubinsk.
"Our action is a civil in nature; it has no such notion as 'organizer': any citizen of Russia or another country can take part in it. A notification to the Russia's GIBDD (Traffic Police) about the rally was filed well in advance by Ilya Ponomaryov, a Russian State Duma Deputy," Semyon Trankovskiy, one of the participants, told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent.
"Somewhere we'll hold meetings, somewhere – pickets; or just talk to people. There are civic activists in the rally; they'll tell people on how to defend one's rights; for example, how to hold pickets," said Igor Bakirov, a participant of the "White Stream".
