In Dagestan, 7 persons killed in shootout
5 policemen and 2 persons, suspected of involvement in an illegal armed formation (IAF) killed in a shootout in the Botlikh District of Dagestan.
"A squad of the district police was shelled by unidentified persons from the mountain and forest massif. 5 policemen were fatally wounded. In the course of the armed clash, 2 criminals were neutralized," said later a staff member of the National Antiterrorist Committee (NAC).
According to the Investigatory Committee, the policemen, who were checking reports of local residents about the appearance of a grouping of armed persons near the village of Chanko, were shelled by IAF members.
According to the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), the killed militants are being identified. The MIA has also clarified that Khatib Guseinov, Sergeant of the Police Division of the Botlikh District, was among the killed law enforcement agents.
According to the official MIA's website, the examination of the place of the incident is underway.
