In Astrakhan, court sentences initiators of fight on VDV Day in 2011
On August 6, the Kirov District Court of Astrakhan sentenced three initiators of a mass fight at the city market on the Airborne Forces Day (known as VDV Day) in 2011 to imprisonment for the terms of 1 year and 9 months and of 2 years. This was announced by Oleg Dupak, Regional Prosecutor.
Let us remind you that on August 2, 2011, in Astrakhan, there was a mass fight, in which 10 persons were injured. The conflict arose at the market of Bolshie Isady between paratroopers, who celebrated the VDV Day, and traders, including natives of the Caucasus regions. After the fight, the police detained 25 persons. A criminal case was instituted against three residents of Astrakhan, who were charged of disorderly conduct, deliberate damage of other people's property, and beatings.
"Two defendants were sentenced to two years of imprisonment to be served in a common security penal colony, and the third defendant was sentenced to 1 year and 9 months to be also served in a common security penal colony. No one was proved to be innocent there," Oleg Dupak stated.
According to him, the number of defendants included a Dargin, a Kazakh and an Azeri, the "Interfax" reports.
There were no paratroopers among the defendants, the IA "Vysota 102.0" (Height of 102.0) reports.
