Investigators refuse to stop criminal proceedings against Sergey Khadjikurbanov on case of Anna Politkovskaya's murder

Investigator refused to stop the case against Sergey Khadjikurbanov, former staff member of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA), accused of the murder of Anna Politkovskaya, an observer of the "Novaya Gazeta". This was reported by the lawyer of Sergey Khadjikurbanov.

On October 7, 2006, Anna Politkovskaya was shot and killed in the centre of Moscow. On October 27, 2011, the investigators filed charges of organization of the journalist's murder against Sergey Khadjikurbanov, ex-militiaman. He does not admit his guilt.

On June 15, Alexei Mikhalchik, the lawyer of Sergey Khadjikurbanov, stated that he would seek a termination of criminal proceedings of his client.

However, the answer came from Petros Garibyan, the head of the investigatory group: "The guilt of Khadjikurbanov was proved, and there were no grounds for termination of the case." This was reported by Alexei Mikhalchik, the "Interfax" reports.

Meanwhile, today it became known that the lawyers of other defendants in the criminal case would require a lie detector test for Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov, one of the suspected organizers of the Anna Politkovskaya's murder, the former staff member of the Moscow GUVD (Chief Interior Department). Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov concluded a deal with the investigators and began to give confessions.

However, according to the lawyer Alexei Mikhalchik, under conditions of the deal with the investigators, Dmitry Pavlyuchenkov can refuse to testify on a polygraph, the "Vesti.ru" reports.
