North-Ossetian wrestler Alan Khugaev wins sixth Russian Olympic gold medal
Alan Khugaev, a Russian wrestler of Greco-Roman style, became the Olympic Champion in the weight category of up to 84 kg.
In the final, Alan Khugaev defeated Karam Mohammed Gaber Ibrahim, representative of Egypt.
Meeting with Karam Gaber, the Athens Olympic Champion, was extremely hard for Alan Khugaev. The wrestlers spent first 1.5 minutes in the centre of the ring, unsuccessfully trying to seize the initiative.
The Russian athlete took the capture on the ground and with a little pause managed to execute assault, and he got the winning score in five seconds prior to the end of the first period. In the second round, already the Egyptian athlete has acquired the right to attack; however, Alan Khugaev clearly defended himself and defeated his competitor, winning a gold medal of the Olympic Games, the RIA "Novosti" reports.
This is the sixth gold medal of the Russian national team at the Olympic Games, the "Interfax" reports.
