Adyg ensemble "Islamey" flies to London
This morning, the State Ensemble of Folk Song and Dance "Islamey" took off from the Krasnodar Airport for London, where on August 4-7 it will take part in the cultural programme of the "Sochi Centre" within the 30th Summer Olympic Games, Aslan Nekhai, the director of the ensemble, has reported.
In total, 25 ensemble members – singers, dancers and musicians – went to the Olympic capital. "For the first time our ensemble takes part in the event of this scale; and England will hear and see 'Islamey' songs and dances for the first time," said Aslan Nekhai.
According to performers, the programme includes the most interesting pieces; and each concert will differ from others. Toward the end of the tour to London, the soloists plan to perform the famous song of the Qween "We Are the Champions" in the Adyg language with national colouring.
Russia will be presented in London by 15 creative companies; five of them are already performing there: groups from Buryatia, Kabardino-Balkaria, Yakutia, Moscow and Adygea.
