Nagorno-Karabakh opens tent camp for youth of Armenia and Diaspora

At the initiative of the public organization named "Ayazn", a group of young people has come from Armenia to Nagorno-Karabakh to stay in a tent camp near the village of Zuar, Shaumyan District. The camp will run till August 11.

Zuar is 40 kilometres off the district centre Karvachar. Armen Agayan, a representative of the central body of the "Ayazn", told the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent that 35 people came to Nagorno-Karabakh; and in Zuar 10 more persons joined them.

"In our group all are of student age. Five young people are from Syria, one from Lebanon, one from Belarus, and the rest are our members and supporters," said Agayan.

The tent camp is organized at the initiative of the "Ayazn" and funded by donations of the participants ranging from 20 to 30 thousand drams.

"The action is of acquaintance character. During 10 days we plan to visit cultural and historical sights of Nagorno-Karabakh and the places, where battles took place during the Karabakh War," said Armen Agayan.

Mekhri Aityan has arrived in Yerevan from Syria quite recently. She said that she found the "Ayazn" through the Facebook; and the activists of the organization helped her to find temporary housing. She is for the first time in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to her story, the events in Syria had forced her family to move to Armenia; however, Nagorno-Karabakh also interests her. She said that her family did not plan settling in Armenia.

Manuel Nazaryan arrived in Yerevan from Syria with his parents. He said that the "Ayazn" had helped him with employment; and after returning to Yerevan he will work in one of Yerevan's restaurants as a cook.

Artak Melikyan, a photographer from Belarus, has noted that he became acquainted with the activities of the "Ayazn" through social networking; he "really liked the organization and decided to become a member of its actions."

David Youssef from Lebanon said he had also learned about the tent camp from the Facebook; and he could not miss such a chance to visit Nagorno-Karabakh for the first time.
