A native of Dagestan Malik Akhmadov, who became Category I invalid after saving a drowning girl, was awarded the medal "For Saving Those Who Perish" by a decree of the President of the Russian Federation.

On July 13, 2010, Malik Akhmadov, a first-year student of the Novgorod Institute of Agriculture, came on vacation to his native Dagestan and was near the Caspian Sea with his relatives.
