Picket in support of sentenced ANC activists held in Yerevan

On August 1, near the residence of the President of Armenia, an action was held in support of sentenced activists of the Armenian National Congress (ANC). The action was attended by the ANC activists and representatives of a number of public organizations.

The Armenian National Congress holds actions to protest against the resolution of the court of general jurisdiction of Kentron and Nork Marash, the administrative regions of Yerevan, which sentenced four ANC activists to 2-6 years of imprisonment.

"The fact that the guilty murderers safely walk along the streets and the innocent activists are sentenced to imprisonment means that there is no justice in Armenia," stated Zarui Ovanisyan, a member of the ANC, in her speech, the "Tert.am" reports.

"If one country has such young people, such a generation that rejected breaches of the law and opposed rule of bandits, the authorities of the country should leave as soon as possible," the edition "Panarmenian" quotes Levon Zurabyan, the coordinator of the ANC, as saying.

Till present, no comments from representatives of the authorities in connection with the recent action are available.
