Rostov Region: four residents need new housing after flooding

Four residents of the farm yard of Turoverov-Glubokinsky of the Millerovo District of the Rostov Region need new housing after the flooding of their houses.

"As a result of heavy snow melting and rain, which occurred at night of March 23-24, the streambed of the Glubokaya River of the Millerovo District accumulated water, which poured into the floodplain. As a result, 18 private houses of adobe buildings in the farm of Turoverov-Glubokinsky have been partially were partially flooded. The affected buildings were houses for 47 persons, including 9 children," the "Caucasian Knot" correspondent was told by press officer of the Russian Ministry for Emergencies (MfE) in the Rostov Region.

"At night on March 23-24, heavy rain flooded household plots, including farmsteads, houses, streets, roads, and bridges in Berezovaya, Mostovaya, and Beregovaya Streets. The driveway and street roads of the length of 400 meters were flooded. Besides, four road bridges are damaged," emphasized Natalia Derbeneva, the head of the rural settlement of Verkhnetalovskoe. She has added that yards of the most residents were flooded, and "in three houses, water came inside."

"So, that night, an 80-year-old pensioner Belyaev visited his acquaintance in the neighbourhood. In fact, he did not remove from his house; however, he argues that his flooded house is not suitable to live in. Therefore, he was assisted in moving his belongings and hand baggage into the house of his acquaintance," said Natalia Derbeneva.

According to her, "in fact, another family a 47-year-old woman with a 12-year-old child was deprived of shelter." "The fact is that the woman was registered in Millerovo, and she lived in the farm yard. After the flooding, her house is not suitable to live in; however, the house was not her property. So, I intercede particularly for that family. At present, the mother and her child live in the house of her eldest daughter, but the daughter has her own family," stated the head of the rural settlement of Verkhnetalovskoe. She has added that "a 77-year-old pensioner Korolev also faces difficult situation."

"I will apply to all levels of the authorities for the resettlement of those three families. However, the problem is that we do not have municipal housing, so we need to purchase it for resettlement of the families," explained the official.
