Medvedev orders GPO to check facts from video appeal of inspector from Kuschevskaya

Russian President Dmitri Medvedev has instructed Yuri Chaika, head of the General Prosecutor's Office (GPO), to supervise the investigation into the facts set forth in the video appeal of inspector Ekaterina Rogoza, who stated that investigators of the Kuschevskiy District, Krasnodar Territory, had been forced by their bosses to stop criminal cases.

Let us remind you that Ms Rogoza, an inspector of the Kuschevskiy ROVD (District Interior Division), posted on the Internet a video appeal to President Dmitri Medvedev, where she asserts that in 2009 she stopped, under an oral order of the Kuschevskiy District Prosecutor, a check in relation to one of those, now accused of massacre of 12 persons at night on November 5. According to her story, on the results of the check now conducted in the region, top officials may escape punishment by blaming their subordinates - rank-and-file employees.

The Russian President's order to GPO to check the facts presented in the Ekaterina Rogoza's appeal was announced today by the Kremlin press service.

Meanwhile, Ms Rogoza's actions, when she had refused to institute proceedings against Vladimir Alexeyev, suspected of extortion, are already inspected by the GPO. According to Ekaterina, inspectors demand that she withdraw the mentioning of the District Prosecutor's name from her explanations.
