Abkhazia MoFA: Georgia militarizes itself more intensively than before war with South Ossetia

The new process of Georgian militarization has acquired a more intensive rate than before its intrusion into South Ossetia in August 2008. This is said in the statement of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Abkhazia disseminated today in connection with the anniversary of the Georgian aggression against South Ossetia.

According to the information of the foreign affairs service, the USA "again arms Georgia via Israel, France and Ukraine".

"The Georgian president, when opening the joint military manoeuvres with NATO countries, openly speaks about building an entirely different army - newer, bigger and more efficient - which could defend Georgia from Russian aggression, and does not conceal his aggressive intentions", runs the document.

One year after the tragic events, states the Abkhazia MoFA, despite obvious facts confirming the guilt of Georgia, the international community has failed to give an objective assessment of the actions by the regime of Georgian president Mikhail Saakashvili in South Ossetia. Moreover, "rough reproaches and pressure" on Russia immediately followed the intrusion of Georgia into South Ossetia.

In the opinion of the MoFA, the situation "continues to develop according to another but similar scenario: Georgia gets ready for a new war while the attitude of the international community towards Abkhazia and South Ossetia has become more negative".

"The European Union and the USA not only refuse to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia, they pursue an active policy of pressure on the countries which consider the possibility to recognize Abkhazia and South Ossetia. Such support of Georgia is not neutral any more and this makes the European Union and the USA parties in the conflict, runs the document.
