Georgia finds Russian President's visit to South Ossetia to be a provocation

As stated by Temur Yakobashvili, Vice-Premier and State Minister for Reintegration of Georgia, the today's Dmitri Medvedev's visit to South Ossetia is a provocation.

"It's a more symbolical visit dated to signing the Nabucco Project, which brings no honour to Russia. What economic development can be talked in the region with 15,000 population left, where an ethnic cleansing took place? It's an obvious provocative action," the "Argumenty i Facty" quotes Mr Yakobashvili as saying.

Head of the Georgian parliament David Bakradze finds Dmitri Medvedev's visit to Tskhinvali to be s step directed against Georgia. He has called all the political forces of the country "to consolidate in the face of the external danger that threatens the state," as reported by the "News Georgia" Agency.

In his turn, Paata Davitaya, vice-speaker of the parliament of Georgia, has stated today that the Georgian party plans to respond to the visit of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitri Medvedev to Tskhinvali with "diplomatic pressure" and "would not give in to provocations of the Russian party."

  • Two natives of Northern Caucasus injured in shootout near “Wildberries” office in Moscow
