Medvedev and Aliev agree on gas purchase by "Gazprom" from Azerbaijan

The talks of Dmitri Medvedev with Ilham Aliev, which took place during Russian President's visit to Baku, ended with signing of two joint statements and a range of other documents. During negotiations it was decided that since January 1, 2010, the "Gazprom" will start buying Azerbaijani gas in the volume of 500 million cubic metres.

The talks of the two leaders focused on further deepening of trade and economic cooperation, including through efficient interaction in the conditions of the global financial and economic crisis. In the course of the meeting of Presidents, it was noted that Azerbaijani-Russian relations are successfully developing in all areas; the hope was expressed for their further expansion, as reported by the "Day.Az".

The Presidents have signed the Joint Statement on the Caspian Sea and the Joint Statement on the main principles of border delimitation and distribution of water resources of Samur River between the Russian Federation and Azerbaijan, as reported by the ITAR-TASS.
