Military exercises to start in South Ossetia
On July 2, South Ossetia will start battalion tactical exercises without combat shooting of the 4th Military Base of Ministry of Defence of Russia. The exercises will be held at the training range in Tskhinvali District, some 20-25 kilometres to the north of Tskhinvali. The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learnt about it from his duly informed source.
Today at 10 a.m. the Ministry of Defence of South Ossetia has held a military conference under the exercises "Kavkaz-2009" on the outcomes and lessons of the war in August 2008.
"Indeed, we take part in exercises 'Kavkaz-2009'," Mr Tanaev has stated in the end of the first part of the conference. "And the conference is dated to these exercises."
The Minister of Defence refused to answer journalists' questions. The press service of the Ministry of Defence of South Ossetia has also refused to give any comments on the exercises.
