ICPO: no pressure on defendant in "Neva-Express" train case

Nikolai Uschipovskiy, senior inspector for especially important cases of the Chief Investigatory Department of Russia's Investigatory Committee at the Prosecutor's Office (ICPO), who headed in 2007-2008 the investigatory group dealing with the case of blowing up the "Neva-Express" train, has stated today that no pressure had been exerted on Salambek Dzakhkiev, a resident of Ingushetia, accused of involvement in this crime.

The "Caucasian Knot" has reported that on June 17 at the Novgorod Court residents of Ingushetia Salanbek Dzakhkiev and Maksharip Khidriev, accused of involvement in blowing up the "Neva-Express" train, told journalists about the pressure applied to them by inspectors of the ICPO.

The "Gazeta.Ru" writes that inspector Uschipovskiy made this refutation, when evidencing as a witness at the trial considering the case of a 1-million-rouble bribery allegedly suggested to the inspector who worked with the explosion of the "Neva-Express" train.

The trial began today at the Novgorod City Court. As reported by the Novgorod Regional Department of the ICPO, which is quoted by the "BaltInfo.ru", Salambek Dzakhkiev and his advocate from the Moscow Bar Magomed Razakov are accused of the bribery attempt.
