Defendants in Nalchik attack case cancel their announced hunger strike

The defendants in the criminal case on the events in Nalchik on October 13, 2005, decided not to start their hunger strike since, as reported by their advocates, doctors from the AIDS Centre visited the SIZO, examined defendant Sergey Kaziev suspected to be sick with hepatitis B and appointed respective treatment to him.

Let us remind here that the defendants' decision to go on hunger strike was announced at the court session on June 2, when defendant Kaziev who was in the courtroom complained of his very bad state of health. Earlier, he had already taken his treatment at the hospital of the Corrective Colony No. 3 of the Administration for Punishment Enforcement (known as "UFSIN") of Kabardino-Balkaria, but it gave no result.
