A local resident kidnapped in Chechnya

On May 25, a 19-year old resident of Urus-Martan district, Chechnya, was kidnapped by officers of unidentified power authorities.

The "Caucasian Knot" correspondent has learned about the fact from employees of a local non-government organization. The information about kidnapping has been confirmed in the Chechen MoI as well.

"According to the available data, yesterday officers of unidentified power units, wearing masks, kidnapped a 19-year old young man in the village of Ghekhi, Urus-Martan district. As is known at the moment, the officers arrived to the settlement in two cars, "Zhiguli" and "UАZ". They blocked a private house, part of them stormed inside and threatening physical violence kidnapped the son of the house owner",  states the employee of the non-government organization.

According to him, it is not known which power authority the kidnappers represented. There are no data on the possible location and fate of the kidnapped youth.

Officers at the republic's MoI state that the fact did take place, however, it is still too early to discuss who exactly could be involved in the kidnapping. "Indeed, a young man born in 1990 was kidnapped in the village of Ghekhi. His mother has applied to militia with a complaint. However, we can not claim yet that the kidnapping was arranged by representatives of any power authorities. The fact is being checked, after which we may be able to discuss this topic specifically", states representative of the republic's law enforcement agencies to the "Caucasian Knot " correspondent.
